I strongly believe in the strength and resiliency of the human spirit. While our challenges can seem overwhelming at times, I am confident that we each have the power within us to overcome obstacles and affect change. The meanings we assign to situations or circumstances, in essence, the stories we are told, or tell ourselves, color our sense of self and can become our identity. But is that who we really are? By exploring the roots of those stories, questioning their efficacy, or identifying the meanings assigned to them, one can begin the journey of discovery of one’s authentic self. Only then can we begin to rewrite our own unique story with the strength, power and possibility that we each hold.
Health is holistic. We are healthiest when we embody the concept of lokahi, a harmony within the triangle of the physical, mental and spiritual parts of ourselves.
I work within a humanistic framework, respecting individual uniqueness. My approach to therapy is eclectic and includes elements of psychodynamic theory, narrative theory, and cognitive behavioral theory. I work with individuals and couples 18-100 years on matters including adjusting to life events/transitions, connecting the dots of life experiences. gender, identity, and relationship challenges to name a few.
Carl Roger’s, a renowned psychiatrist said, “the Good Life is a process of becoming.” Take the next step in your process. You deserve a good life.
